William Moreno Jr. High School (WMJH) opened in September 1993 and is located in the border town of Calexico, California.  Our school was named after a gentleman who served the people of Calexico for many years as a Councilman and Mayor and devoted many years of his life to protecting and improving our community.  Our school mascot, like William Moreno, is the mighty Aztec warrior.

Almost all the students we serve are Hispanic and Spanish-speaking.  They receive a comprehensive core curriculum by attending 6 periods in 6 blocks of instruction based on their identified needs.

WMJH’s staff recognizes that students in the middle grades are in transition from childhood to adolescence.  We also consider student safety one of our top priorities.
Keeping this in mind, WMJH takes into account the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, moral, and ethical development of students in the middle grades.  Students are encouraged and challenged by a faculty who enjoy teaching and who provide for all students regardless of ability or primary language.  Our goal is to provide the best education in the safest environment for our community’s children.
